Coming Soon: Entr’acte

Things are busy around here, and I’m excited to share that I have another release coming out soon!  Plot Twists is great for all book lovers, while Entr’acte is strictly for the Phantom fans – but hopefully there’s a good number of you out there!

Entr’acte is a special collection of fun extras – if my Guardian series was a DVD, this would be the Special Features section.  I’ve put together deleted scenes, essays and an extended author interview.  If you enjoyed spending time with my characters, this is the chance to hang out a little bit more!  I reveal some secrets about the writing of the series, and include a Christmas story at the Opera Garnier.

If that last one intrigues you, the timing is perfect, because Entr’acte will release December 1st!  Stay tuned for a cover reveal on November 3rd, and maybe a few more clues to what you can find inside.

Excerpt from Plot Twists: Ghosts on the Page

I shared on Friday about the new anthology I’m in, Plot Twists, a collection of short stories about people entering into the books they read.  I wrote two short stories for the collection, and I thought I’d share an excerpt from one of them, “Ghosts on the Page.”  A ballerina in New York wanders into Leroux’s Phantom of the Opera, without realizing that seeing the Webber play is not as much preparation as she thinks!

Enjoy the excerpt below, and read the full story by getting your copy of Plot Twists here!

I plucked The Phantom of the Opera off the shelf and carried it over to the bookstore owner.  “How much for this one?” I asked.  “There doesn’t seem to be a price tag.”

He glanced at the book in my hand.  “An interesting choice.  And do you think this is what you need?  Are you prepared for an adventure in a French opera house?  Ballet, and ghosts in the shadows?”

Oh great, now he was trying to be dramatic.  “Sure,” I said, “that’s why I picked it up.  So the price…?”

He smiled.  “I don’t think you understand what I mean.  My books are an experience.  For the right person.  Open the book, read a line, and you will find yourself in the story.  Quite literally.  To return, open again to the page you began with.”

And this had crossed us into seriously weird territory.  “Okay,” I said, backing up a step.  “I think I’ll just go on to my date now.  Never mind about the book.”

“Surely,” the bookstore owner said, with a new glint in his eye, “you’re not afraid of an adventure?” Continue reading “Excerpt from Plot Twists: Ghosts on the Page”

Book Launch: Plot Twists

I’m so excited to share that my newest book release is here!  Plot Twists is a fantasy anthology I collaborated on with eight other incredibly talented authors.  I wrote two short stories for it that I love, and I love the other stories in here too!

Buy your Kindle copy

Buy it in paperback

Each story is about a character traveling into a book, mostly classics you probably know.  If you enjoy fantasy, classic literature, a little romance and a little adventure, this is a collection you definitely don’t want to miss.

As another very special offer, to celebrate this new release, the first book of my Guardian of the Opera trilogy is on sale this weekend.  You can buy a Kindle copy of Nocturne on discount if you act now!

If you’ve already read and enjoyed my Phantom series, that’s another reason to pick up Plot Twists.  I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy my story giving you a very different visit to the Opera Garnier, following a ballerina who has no idea that watching Webber’s play did not prepare her for visiting Leroux’s novel…

If you haven’t clicked away to buy something yet, here’s a little more about Plot Twists:

Down forgotten alleyways and quiet streets, mysterious bookstores only reveal themselves to people who need the special volumes on their shelves. People who are lonely, people who are lost, or people who want an unforgettable experience, find themselves inexplicably drawn to particular works. The keepers of the books, just as strange as the stores themselves, will ask:

“Where would you venture inside the Phantom’s Opera?”

“Have you dreamed of sitting at Arthur’s Round Table?”

“Would you dare to meet Frankenstein?”

Follow nine authors as they weave tales of characters finding exactly what they need, expected or not, inside the pages of a book. With stories across the ages explored: from the heroes of the Iliad, to the madness of Alice’s Wonderland, to the horror of H.P. Lovecraft, adventure awaits.

So get your favorite French wine, or heart-shaped tart, and dive into a good book.

Literally.
