Why is comedy and humor always considered the poor cousin to serious drama? People need laughter in their lives, because “real life” is dramatic enough. It’s interesting that as far back as Twain’s time (and probably earlier than that), humorous writing was considered “literature of a low order.” It’s the same with films – very few “Best Picture” awards are EVER for comedies.
