Friday Face-Off: Romantic Covers

FFO.jpg

It’s time again for the Friday Face-Off meme, created by Books by Proxy, with weekly topics hosted by Lynn’s Book Blog.  The idea is to put up different covers for one book, and select a favorite.

This week’s theme is: The bodice ripper – exactly as it seems

I don’t tend to read true bodice-rippers, but I did think about favorite romances in books for this one.  The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer had several excellent romances, though my particular favorite was Book 3, Cress.  So that’s my choice for this week’s theme!

This is the only cover I’d seen prior to doing this post, and I love the sci fi/fantasy-merged feel of it.

Quotable: Knowing Your Role…Maybe

My new book Nocturne is now available! If you haven’t picked up your copy yet, I’m still sharing a few glimpses of the story with some quotes.  Today’s quote reflects the Phantom’s impression of himself…you’ll have to read the book to decide if he’s right!

Launch Day: The Guardian of the Opera – Nocturne

It’s here!  I’ve been talking about this book forever, and it’s finally launch day – The Guardian of the Opera: Nocturne is now available for purchase, and I can’t wait for you to read it.

Select your format of choice:

Ebook ($6.99)

Paperback ($13.99)

Hardback ($35.99)*

And in case you’ve missed the previous posts, here’s a bit about the story:

Set against the backdrop of 1880s Paris and the stunning Opera Garnier, The Guardian of the Opera: Nocturne brings you the familiar tale of the Phantom of the Opera from a different direction. Meg Giry met the Phantom once when she was twelve years old, a new ballet dancer lost in the Opera’s maze. Years later, when an Angel of Music offers singing lessons to her best friend Christine Daaé, Meg is sure she knows what’s actually happening. But as strange events unfold and the pieces stop adding up, Meg has to wonder if she truly understands the Phantom—or Christine.

Erik is a man of many talents and many masks, and the one covering his face may be the least concealing. The opera house is his kingdom and his refuge, where he stalks through the shadows as the Phantom of the Opera, watching over all that occurs. He never intended to fall in love; when he does, it launches him into a new symphony he’s certain can only end in heartbreak.

And don’t forget you can join my virtual launch party on Facebook – I’ll be posting fun updates throughout the weekend, plus you can join my Zoom call presentation this evening at 5:30 pm Pacific time.  I hope to see you there!

* If you’re wondering why this link doesn’t take you to Amazon, the printers of the hardback had site issues recently and have not been able to sync with Amazon yet – the hardback will eventually be available on Amazon, but for now you can buy it direct from the printers.  And they’re currently offering a 15% off discount (code SAVE15) if you buy today!

Friday Face-Off: That Man in the Shadows

It’s time again for the Friday Face-Off meme, created by Books by Proxy, with weekly topics hosted by Lynn’s Book Blog.  The idea is to put up different covers for one book, and select a favorite.

This week’s theme is: Silhouette – an island, a person, anything you like

My brain is already in a Phantom place (because my book comes out in a week!) and when you hand me a prompt like “silhouette,” well…of course I’m going to think of a shadowy masked man.  Surprisingly, not that many cover artists think that way!  So I decided I’d bend the rules on this one a little, and feature a variety of books – but all versions of the Phantom of the Opera – with some shadowy silhouettes.

Not a person silhouette, but this is a city in silhouette, and actually kind of a cool cover.  I…can’t really recommend the book though…

Quotable: Embracing One’s Story

As the release of my book Nocturne approaches, I’m offering a few glimpses of the story by sharing some quotes.  Today’s quote reflects one aspect of Meg’s journey as a character – the Phantom represents exciting, impossible things to her, and she’s always wanted to know more about him.  Her journey over the course of the trilogy, though, is to take ownership of her own story.

Look for Nocturne on June 5th in Kindle, paperback and hardback, and pre-order your Kindle copy today.
