Blog Waltz: Interview on Calmgrove

Storyteller Cover 1 - SmallToday we’re on the final stop of my blog tour for The Storyteller and Her Sisters!  We’re closing up with another interview, this one with Christopher who blogs on Calmgrove about books, minutiae, and Arthuriana–among other things!  We also both participated in Lory’s Witch Week event, which is wrapping up today.

I’m excited about this interview, because Christopher asked some great and complex questions about the nature of fairy tale retelling, and the importance of narratives in our lives.  I only hope my answers are as good! 🙂

Blog Waltz: Guest Post on Lynn’s Book Blog

Storyteller Cover 1 - SmallAnother stop today on my blog tour for The Storyteller and Her Sisters!  Today you can head over to Lynn’s Book Blog for a guest post about where the idea for the novel first came from.  You’ve probably heard already that it’s based on “The Shoes That Were Danced to Pieces” from the Brothers Grimm, but there was one line in particular that set me off thinking…

Lynn is another book review blogger–I think I “met” her to during Carl’s awesome seasonal reading challenges.  And I frequently discover that I missed a cool Top Ten Tuesday topic by reading about it on Lynn’s blog!

For today, check out my guest post about Storyteller!  (And I’m pretty delighted by a very nice review Lynn posted too…)

Blog Waltz: Guest Post on The Bookworm Chronicles

Storyteller Cover 1 - SmallContinuing the dance around the blogs for The Storyteller and Her Sisters, today I’m happy to share that I have a guest post on The Bookworm Chronicles.  That’s the online home of Jessica, who you may have seen around here as a commenter. 🙂

Jessica posts frequent book reviews, and is so much better than I am at responding to comments from lovely readers!  She also does a monthly post on film adaptations of books–I always enjoy it, and it inspired my guest post.  I wrote a bit about movie retellings of fairy tales…Disney’s, specifically!  I mention a few favorites, a few that make me groan, and how Disney’s adaptations have changed over the years.  And why I hope they’ll do a “Twelve Dancing Princesses” retelling soon!

Head over to The Bookworm Chronicles to read the post!

Blog Waltz: Guest Post with A Library Mama

Storyteller Cover 1 - SmallToday we’re onto our second dance for The Storyteller and Her Sisters’ Blog Waltz, with a guest post on A Library Mama, blog of Katy, “public librarian, bookworm and mother of two, among other things.” You may remember she guest-posted here a few months ago, sharing some of her favorite fairy tale retellings.  I took that as my inspiration to send her a guest post about my favorite retellings of “The Shoes That Were Danced to Pieces,” the Brothers Grimm story that inspired Storyteller.

I recommend all the books in my guest post, and I recommend Katy’s blog too. 🙂 We have similar reading taste, with a fondness for fantasy and historical fiction, and for kids books that adults will enjoy too.

Read my guest post on favorite retellings!

Blog Waltz: Interview on Little Lion Lynnet’s

Storyteller Cover 1 - SmallToday I’m happy to announce the first stop on my blog tour for The Storyteller and Her Sisters–or Blog Waltz, as I feel a tour for a book about dancing princesses should be called!  We’re stepping off with an interview with the lovely Lynn E. O’Connacht, who blogs at Little Lion Lynnet’s.  We discussed some of the inspiration for the novel, how it relates to the first book, and also a peek at the next book in the series!

Lynn “hails from the wonderful wilds of Europe,” blogs about books, movies, games, and bookish and writerly topics (lately I’ve been stealing memes from her!)  She’s also a fellow writer, who had her own novella out last week, Tales of the Little Engine.  I have my copy 😉 and keep an eye out for an interview with her in a month or so.

But today, go check out my interview about Storyteller!

Get The Storyteller and Her Sisters Today!

Storyteller Cover 1 - SmallIt’s Launch Day for my second novel!

I’ve been promising The Storyteller and Her Sisters for October 10th, and it’s now available. 😀

You can order the paperback, Kindle, or other ebook format.  Read the story of Lyra and her sisters, twelve princesses who danced their shoes to pieces…but with a lot more agency and intention than the Brothers Grimm story gave them.  More romance too!

Read the back-of-the-book description on my Novel News page, or visit GoodReads to read the first three chapters.

If you’ve read my first book, The Wanderers, you’ve seen one side of this story, but there’s much more to learn from Lyra’s perspective.  And if you haven’t read The Wanderers, no matter–you can read the books in either order.  Now is the perfect time to start into the series too.  The Kindle version of The Wanderers will be free this weekend (Oct 11th and 12th) so now’s your chance to spend just $2.99 and pick up both books at once.

If you get a copy, I hope you’ll enjoy reading–and I hope you’ll tell me about it! 🙂

Blog Tour for The Storyteller and Her Sisters

Storyteller Cover 1 - SmallMy new novel will be out this Friday!  Regular readers may remember that I did a blog tour last year for The Wanderers, and I’m happy to announce that I’ll be doing another one now.  I called the last one a Blog Wander, and this one, for a book about twelve dancing princesses, can only be called a Blog Waltz. 🙂

The following lovely bloggers are letting me visit their blogs with a guest post or interview:

It’s not to late to join in for a dance!  Let me know if you’d like to participate in the tour.

This will be a loosely weekly event starting next week, and I’ll let you know as each post goes up.  I’m excited for it! 🙂
