Quotable Shakespeare

“My library was dukedom large enough.”

– William Shakespeare, The Tempest

It’s Shakespeare’s birthday!  Good day to read a play…

And I’m sure Shakespeare made the most out of using his!

  2. Happy Birthday to the Bard! I don’t have time to read a play tonight but maybe I can do the modern equivalent (though he will probably turn over in his grave) and watch one of my favorite film adaptations of a play. Perhaps Twelfth Night with Helena Bonham Carter.

Is there such a thing as a library that is “large enough”?

    • The Beast’s library might be large enough…otherwise, no.

I don’t see why Shakespeare would object to watching a film. Plays were meant to be seen, after all, and he was definitely a showman besides… Have fun with Twelfth Night!
