It’s time again for the Friday Face-Off meme, created by Books by Proxy, with weekly topics hosted by Lynn’s Book Blog. The idea is to put up different covers for one book, and select a favorite.
This week’s theme is: A wrap around cover
I thought right away of Scott Westerfeld’s Uglies series, with some cool coordinating, wrap-around covers.
And bonus, the companion book to the trilogy:
Of the four, my favorite cover is the first one. I think it did the most with the wrap-around format, as the full image looks strikingly different from seeing the front cover portion by itself.
There should be more wrap-around covers in the world…they’re a cool canvas for a bigger image. Something to think about for my next book… 🙂
This is a series where I owned all the books and never got around to reading them. So little time. But, I had no idea about the wrap around covers. I like your favourite too.
Lynn 😀
It’s a good series! Worth making time for, if you can manage it 🙂
I don’t think I’ve heard of this concept in a book cover before – pretty cool! I am not sure if I’ve read any books that have a wrap around cover. The impact is lost with Kindle reader books, unfortunately.
That first cover is fantastic. I’ll have to remember that!
These covers are super cool laid out like that, but do they look weird when they are actually on the book? Like the spine of Specials would just be a random ear? I think I like the last one best!
Specials is kind of iffy–the rest seem to be placed to look good from the front, or on the shelf. Extras is my second favorite 🙂
