Blog Hop: Bookish Collections

book blogger hopThis week’s Book Blogger Hop question: Do you collect things that are book related? Like bookmarks, nameplates, 1st editions…

I mostly just collect books!  I wouldn’t say I have any collections of bookish things, but I do have a handful of souvenirs that I bought because of their bookish connections…

P1030436I visited the Harry Potter Studio Tour earlier this year, and couldn’t resist buying a wand at what must be the coolest gift store ever (boxes of wands, piled everywhere!)  You can get pretty much any character you could possibly want, but I decided on Hermione’s, because it’s gorgeous but more importantly because–seriously, Hermione?  SO awesome.

P1030444When I visited Paris, I climbed Notre Dame’s towers mostly to see Quasimodo’s gargoyles (worth it!) and of course had to buy a gargoyle to take home too.

P1030442Kel of the Protector of the Small series collects lucky cats, which is really the only reason I have this one.  With Kel in mind, I once hunted all over San Francisco’s Chinatown to find one with some dignity to it.

P1030441On my 2012 trip to London I spent a lot of time rambling through Kensington Gardens and thinking of J. M. Barrie’s fairies, so naturally I had to buy a pair when I saw them in Covent Gardens.  Incidentally, The Little White Bird they’re standing in front of is the little-known prequel to Peter Pan–and I have a 1902 edition.  But perhaps I’ll save my collection of old books for another day…

Do you collect anything book or literary connected?  I’d love to hear about it!

I love your wand! I want one too! LOL You’ve got a nice little collection of stuff. I love that each item you have has a special meaning for you.

I have a bunch of books about Fred Astaire, whose movies & dancing I love, but no literary -related collections. The closest thing is my two blessed bookmarks from the Vatican, which, when combined with a few other religious themed bookmarks might make a collection. But it hasn’t been gathered consciously.
